The triangle badge was worn on the 8 point cap that was adopted in 1940 and was in use until 1952 when the wheel and wing badge was introduced. The shield badge was used as an employee pass to be shown to conductors and drivers when off duty. In the 1920s it was also worn on the uniform for a short time. As is typical of Colorado snowstorms, the wind blows snow into the cuts and scours the higher ground. This same problem plagued railroads in eastern Colorado as well.
