\nProgramming may be library-initiated or co-sponsored. Co-sponsorship infers the
\nsharing of concept, organization, and presentation with a community individual or
\ngroup and may be governed by formal agreement (such as a memorandum of
\nunderstanding) or simply a cooperative sharing of resources to develop and present
\na program. Shared responsibility may (or may not) include origination, advertising,
\nscheduling, insurance, venue, and presentation.
\nProgramming may consist of a single event or a series of regularly scheduled
\nevents consistent with a common theme.
\nLibrary programming is non-commercial, objective, non-political and provided
\nfree of charge to participants. Occasionally the Library will engage professional
\nperformers or organizations by fee in providing opportunities and events otherwise
\nunavailable in our community. However, neither the Library nor a co-sponsoring
\norganization may re-coup these (or other) costs by charging attendance fees or
\nother mandatory assessments.
\nSupplemental program materials may be available for purchase. However,
\nparticipation and utilization of a program is neither contingent nor dependent on
\nthe use or purchase of such materials.
\nProgramming is not an advertising or advocacy forum. While commercial or
\nsingle-purpose co-sponsoring organizations may briefly state the purpose and
\nscope of their endeavors the program itself is conducted objectively with reference
\nto all issues. It is appropriate, following a presentation, for participants to request a
\nbusiness card, brochure, or other contact source of a presenter.
\nHowever, authors providing book talks are encouraged to conduct sales and
\nsigning of their works following the discussion.<\/p>\n
