{"id":8930,"date":"2024-02-27T15:34:38","date_gmt":"2024-02-27T22:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandbox.aclin.org\/test\/?page_id=8930"},"modified":"2026-02-05T10:09:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T17:09:28","slug":"emergency-closing-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sandbox.aclin.org\/test\/emergency-closing-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Closing Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Red Feather Mountain Library District<br \/>\nEmergency Closing Policy<\/h1>\n<p><em>Reviewed and approved February 22, 2022, by the Red Feather Mountain Library District<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Board of Trustees<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1-The Red Feather Lakes Community Library is a public service entity; therefore, patrons expect<br \/>\nthe library to be open even in severe weather or when building functions are impaired.<br \/>\n2- The Library may close (or postpone opening) when weather conditions make it highly<br \/>\nimprobable or dangerous for travel. The primary factor of any decision made will be the safety<br \/>\nof the staff, volunteers, and library patrons; however, maximum effort will be made to maintain<br \/>\nregular library operating hours.<br \/>\n3-The decision to close or postpone opening the Library is at the discretion of the Library<br \/>\nDirector (or the staff person designated to be in charge when the Director is not available). The<br \/>\nLibrary Board President will be contacted and advised of the situation (or other Board Member<br \/>\nif the Library Board President is unavailable or otherwise cannot be reached). In deteriorating<br \/>\nweather conditions or other issues concerning the potential safe use of the facility or potentially<br \/>\nhazardous travel conditions, volunteers and\/or non-essential staff may be sent home if deemed<br \/>\nprudent by the Library Director.<br \/>\n4-Every effort will be made to have public announcements of the unscheduled closure on the<br \/>\nLibrary\u2019s website, telephone answering message, or by any other sources that may be available<br \/>\nto the Library Director. If possible, a note will be posted on the library door describing the<br \/>\nsituation and stating when the Library is expected to reopen.<br \/>\n5-In the event of an emergency or other unscheduled closure on days that children\u2019s programs<br \/>\nare normally scheduled and normally coordinated with the schools, every effort will be made to<br \/>\ninform the school, bus transportation and parents regarding library closure in reducing<br \/>\nunnecessary and potentially hazardous travel. This may be done by phone, email or social media &#8212; e.g., NextDoor.<br \/>\n6-This is intended as \u2018best effort\u2019 with available library resources.<br \/>\n7-In case of any emergency (e.g. power outage), closing is also at the discretion of the Library<br \/>\nDirector with the same notification process as described above.
